Arrest for Attempt Murder
EL CAJON POLICE DEPT. – PRESS RELEASE INFORMATION SHEET
TYPE OF INCIDENT: Attempt Murder Arrest
OCCURRED: 11/14/17 at approx. 1710 hrs.
LOCATION OF OCCURRENCE: 1500 E. Washington El Cajon
RESUME OF INCIDENT:
El Cajon Police Detectives have arrested a man believed to be responsible for his part in a shooting that occurred at the 1500 block of E. Washington Ave., on November 11, 2017 at 9:47 PM. The man and at least two other males met the victim in a vehicle that was parked on E. Washington. Soon after the meeting, numerous shots were fired at the victim striking him. The suspects fled on foot and were not located. A traffic collision also occurred in the same area at the time of the shooting. The victim was transported by medics to a local hospital.
On November 14, 2017 at approximately 5:00 PM, a suspect in the shooting was arrested at a San Diego County Probation office in the city of San Diego.
19 year-old Jaquis Holiday of San Diego was booked into San Diego County Jail and charged with Probation Violation, Assault with Firearm on a Person, and Attempt Murder.
Detectives are working to determine a motive for the incident, if it is gang related and what role the traffic collision may have played. The victim is still in the hospital and is listed in stable condition.
