TYPE OF INCIDENT:   Arrest for Murder

OCCURRED:    01/17/18 at approx. 1500 hrs.

LOCATION OF OCCURRENCE: 200 Travelodge Drive, El Cajon

Police have arrested a 23 year-old female for murder in connection with a stabbing that occurred on January 16th at the 100 block of West Madison. During that incident the victim, a 34 year-old female, exited the passenger compartment of a vehicle with a pit bull dog and confronted the suspect who was sitting at bus bench. A brief verbal argument ensued between both victim and suspect. The suspect produced a knife and stabbed the victim in the upper and lower torso area. The suspect fled on foot while the victim was able to walk back to the vehicle with the dog. The driver of the vehicle drove her to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead. Detectives assigned to the case determined that both the victim and suspect knew each other. Detectives also learned that the suspect was staying in a nearby hotel and were able to arrest the suspect when they saw her leave one of the rooms. Detectives are still trying to determine an exact motive and what the initial argument was about.

34 year-old Alaya Jenkins was booked into Jail for Murder.
