Heartland Fire & Rescue Names Interim Fire Chief

Heartland Fire & Rescue is pleased to announce the appointment of Mike Chasin as its Interim Fire Chief effective August 11, 2018. Colin Stowell, who currently serves as the department’s Chief, recently accepted a position of Fire Chief with the City of San Diego.

Chasin is well prepared for his new role as the agency’s top leader. “With over 20 years of experience with Heartland Fire, I am deeply invested in our success at serving our communities and building a strong, mission-ready workforce” stated Chasin.

Chasin began his 30-year career as an Emergency Medical Technician at UCLA in 1989. In 1997, Chasin was hired by the City of El Cajon as a Firefighter-Paramedic. Since that time Mike has served in several positions with the department including Fire Engineer, Captain, Fire Marshal and most recently as a Division Chief.

Heartland Fire & Rescue was formed in 2010 to provide management staff for the cities of El Cajon, La Mesa, and Lemon Grove. The Department provides member cities with fire protection, fire prevention, disaster preparedness, and emergency medical services.
