 RESUME OF INCIDENT:

On 11/06/19 at approximately 6:24 PM, El Cajon Police Officers and paramedics responded to the intersection of East Chase and Lincoln Ave reference a call of a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle. A Passerby started CPR on the unresponsive male until medics arrived. The male was transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital by AMR ambulance where he was pronounced deceased. The identity of the deceased 58 year old white male is known but being withheld pending notification of family.

After a preliminary investigation of the scene and interviewing witness, it appears a small white or silver 4 door sedan was westbound on the 700 block of east Chase. The pedestrian was crossing Chase in a northern direction in an unmarked intersection. The vehicle struck the pedestrian, made a U-turn at Lincoln Ave and fled the scene in an easterly direction.

The suspect vehicle will have possible damage to the bumper, hood, and windshield area of the car.  The El Cajon Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding this collision to call (619) 579-3311.

The El Cajon Police Department would also like to remind those who walk at night to obey all traffic control devices, only cross the street at designated controlled intersections, and wear bright or light colored clothing for visibility. For those driving vehicles during hours of darkness, please pay extra attention to the roadway and be aware of pedestrians that may be crossing.
