FATAL PEDESTRIAN COLLISION IN EL CAJON

TYPE OF INCIDENT: FATAL PEDESTRIAN COLLISION

DATE AND TIME OF INCIDENT: 11-28-19 at 8:04 pm

LOCATION OF INCIDENT: East Chase and Avocado Ave, El Cajon, Ca.

RESUME OF INCIDENT:

On 11/28/19, at approximately 8:04 PM, El Cajon Police Officers and paramedics responded to the intersection of East Chase and Avocado Ave reference a call of a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle. A police officer started CPR on the unresponsive female until medics arrived. The female was transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced deceased. The identity of the 60 year old female is known, however her name is being withheld pending notification of family.

The driver of the 2001 Tacoma that struck the female remained on scene and has been fully cooperative with the investigation. At this point in the investigation, DUI is not suspected to be a factor in the collision.

It is estimated that east bound lanes of Chase Ave will be closed between Avocado and Lincoln Ave until approximately midnight.

The El Cajon Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding the collision to call (619) 579-3311. We would also like to remind those who walk at night to obey all traffic control devices, only cross the street at designated, controlled intersections, and wear bright or light colored clothing for visibility.
