Traffic Enforcement Detail in El Cajon

TYPE OF INCIDENT:  Traffic Enforcement Detail

DATE AND TIME OCCURRED:  December 06, 2019 from 7:00pm to 11:00pm

LOCATION OF OCCURRENCE:  City of El Cajon

RESUME OF INCIDENT:

The El Cajon Police Department and the San Diego Police Department worked together Friday, December 6th in conducting traffic enforcement.  A total of eleven officers were assigned to the detail targeting illegal street racing and speeding.  The funding for this operation is provided by a grant from the Office of Traffic Safety (OTS).  The OTS Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) provides both agencies funding to conduct this detail and others in an effort to reduce vehicle collisions.    

The enforcement detail on December 6th was from 7:00 PM – 11:00 PM and yielded the following results:

•    38 citations issued

•    11 citations issued for modified exhaust systems (commonly used in street racing)

•    2 vehicles impounded

The El Cajon Police Department would like to remind drivers to slow down, especially during the rainy weather and always watch for pedestrians.
