Illegal marijuana dispensary adjacent to elementary school shut down by the El Cajon Police Department

Post Date:12/20/2019 3:59 PM

During the week of December 9th, 2019, the El Cajon Police Department began receiving complaints regarding an illegal marijuana dispensary operating at 1358 Broadway, in the City of El Cajon, which is within 300 feet of Bostonia Language Academy, an elementary school.  The El Cajon Police Department began investigating the illegal marijuana dispensary and obtained a search warrant for the illegal business on December 19th.

On December 20th, at approximately 12:00 PM, El Cajon Police Department detectives and officers served the search warrant at 1358 Broadway.  During the execution of the warrant, eleven individuals were detained.  Seven of the individuals were determined to be customers and were released from the scene without being arrested.  Four of the individuals were determined to be employees for the illegal marijuana dispensary and were placed under arrest.  Two of the arrestees were released from the scene with promise to appear (in court) notices and the other two arrestees were booked into the San Diego County Central Jail on felony charges.

During the search of the illegal marijuana dispensary, approximately 322 pounds of marijuana and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) infused products, and approximately $7300 in cash was seized.

Although this was the last of the known marijuana dispensaries illegally operating in the City of El Cajon, illegal operators continually attempt to open new ones.  Please contact the El Cajon Police Department at 619-579-3311 if you see a marijuana dispensary open in the City of El Cajon.  The El Cajon Police Department will continue to swiftly and vigorously shut them down and arrest those individuals found operating them.
