Officer Involved Shooting in El Cajon-Update

TYPE OF INCIDENT:  Officer Involved Shooting in El Cajon

DATE OCCURRED:  February 12, 2020 at approximately 8:57 am

LOCATION OF OCCURRENCE:  500 Block of South Johnson Avenue

SUSPECT:  Keith Crenshaw, age 21, Arizona resident



The suspect from the Officer Involved Shooting that occurred in the 500 block of South Johnson has been identified as Keith Crenshaw, a 21 year-old male and resident of Arizona. After coordinating the investigations from both El Cajon PD and the Phoenix Police, as well as the notification of his family, Crenshaw’s identity is now being released to the public. Crenshaw is still receiving treatment at a local hospital and is in stable condition.

After reportedly committing crimes in Arizona, Crenshaw drove to the City of El Cajon in the stolen car for unknown reasons.  He has no known ties to this area.

The El Cajon Police Department will be seeking charges against Crenshaw for Auto Theft and resisting a police officer. Both are felony charges. A felony warrant is also being sought by Arizona’s Probation Department for Crenshaw.
