RESUME OF INCIDENT: This is an update to an earlier press release. On 3/20/20, at about 0241 hours, three male juvenile suspects entered the 7-Eleven store at 335 Jamacha wearing masks to cover their faces. The suspects confronted the employee who was shot during the incident. The suspects fled the store. The victim was transported to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries, but died later at the hospital despite life saving measures. The victim has been identified as 31 year old Ronald Bailey of El Cajon. The El Cajon Police Department worked closely with the San Diego Sheriff’s Department, the East County Regional Gang Task Force, and The US Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force on the investigation. It was determined the same group of three individuals committed an armed robbery of a 7-Eleven store in Imperial Beach at approximately 0034 hours. During the investigation of both incidents, all three suspects were identified and subsequently arrested. There are no known outstanding suspects at this time. The El Cajon Police Department would like to thank its law enforcement partners for providing essential support during the investigation.
