This project will provide various methods of pipeline rehabilitation for various pipe types, including sewer and storm drain lines and junction structures throughout the City and will improve public facilities to properly handle sewage and drainage flows with the City and reduce the probability of failure.

Much of El Cajon's pipeline infrastructure was installed in the 1960's and 1970's and consisted of corrugated metal pipe for the storm drain system and the material type used for sewer mains were primarily vitrified clay pipe. These pipes are at the end of their life cycle and require rehabilitation or replacement for an estimated cost of $23,000,000 to repair pipes that require attention.

Pipeline repairs will continue on a priority basis as funds are available.

It is projected that all repairs throughout the system will be completed by Fiscal Year 2027-28.

This project will improve public facilities to properly handle sewage and drainage flows within the City and reduce the probability of failure.
